I have added my bank account from the drop down list (Royal Bank of Scotland Bankline). Had confirmation on the screen of successful connection. In the bank configuration added my bank account (IBAN number), but still cant see the account and on my dashboard adding bank account is still showing as incomplete

You also need to create a journal to have your bank account in your dashboard.
When creating your journal, you also have the possibility to link your bank account
