Odoo supports automated task assignments based on predefined employee roles or departments during onboarding.
1. First, review Activities so you are aware of what kinds we support (depending on what other apps are installed).
Activities are assigned to Users (can be delegated to others) and can have simple or detailed information in them to describe what needs to happen in order for the Activity to be completed.
Common Activities include:
- Call / Email / Meet with someone
- ToDo / Reminder
- Upload / Validate / Sign a Document
You are also able to create custom Activities (Annual Review, Skills Certification, etc).
An example of an onboarding Activity might be something like this:

Activities can contain images and hyperlinks to other Odoo Apps or Menus and/or external websites and can be assigned to the Employee, their Manager, Coach or specific other Users to complete (and subsequently reassigned if needed).
The completion of an Activity can also trigger the creation of another Activity either immediately (such as a review from a supervisor) or later (such as an annual Appraisal or refresh of Training and/or Policy review).
2. If you have the Documents app you would also review Document Actions so you are aware of how you can schedule after you review specific documents received into Odoo. Candidates and Employees can access documents remotely, can esign them (needs the Sign app) and when you receive documents uploaded by either, Document Actions can be scheduled to manage any required followup.
Workspaces can be used to centralize each document that needs to be reviewed and/or completed (including eSigned) by Candidates and Employees.

Documents can be tagged to assist with finding them and/or managing their status, applicability and/or version and Document Actions setup to trigger the creation of regular Activites, request signatures and documents, create Tasks, link the document to any other record (ie: Employee, Event, Project), and store them for audit purposes.

3. If you have the Recruitment app you would also review it to understand how you can post positions online (needs Website app) and augment your preboarding and onboarding process.
4. If you have the eLearning app you would also review it to understand how you can manage content, certify Employees as well as providing opportunities to engage staff.
