How can I define 401 income accounts for credit sales and cash sales, as well as whether they apply to the 16% VAT rate and the 0% VAT rate?
Hi,
In Odoo, you can define separate income accounts for credit sales and cash sales and link them to specific VAT rates using product categories or product-level settings. First, create two income accounts in Accounting → Configuration → Chart of Accounts—for example, 401001 – Credit Sales Income and 401002 – Cash Sales Income.
Next, assign these accounts either through product categories or directly on individual products. Using categories is generally easier for management: create categories for credit and cash sales and set the corresponding income account, so all products in that category inherit the account automatically. Alternatively, you can edit each product in the Accounting tab to set the income account individually.
Then, define your VAT rates (16% and 0%) in Accounting → Configuration → Taxes. Assign the appropriate VAT tax to your products or product categories. Odoo will automatically calculate VAT based on the assigned income account and tax rate whenever invoices or POS orders are validated.
Overall, this setup ensures that cash and credit sales are posted to the correct revenue accounts, and the proper VAT rate is applied consistently, streamlining accounting and reporting.
