Dear community,

Our client, which is doing business in car rental, has requested a "ecosystem" consisting of a platform where they can manage their car rental business with all the necessary needs, a website where they can have customers reserve the vehicles and pay upfront (with deposit) and other formalities such as signature requests, billing, etc.

Could all of this be realized within Odoo of are they better of with an more specific car rental software/solution?

As the car rental-part seems possible through third-party apps, the necessary integration with the website seems lacking. Any suggestions?

Many thanks for all the help!

While Odoo is great for many things, car rental is pretty niche and you might end up spending a lot on custom dev work to get everything working smoothly together.

Have you looked at dedicated car rental management platforms? There are a few out there specifically built for this use case - things like fleet tracking, online reservations, deposits, contracts, signatures all in one place.

I've been working on one called Nomora (https://www.nomora.io/) that handles most of what you're describing - reservation management, online booking, payments, document signing, etc. It's designed for small-to-medium rental operators so the workflow is already built around how rental businesses actually work day-to-day.

Might be worth checking out a few specialized options before committing to heavy Odoo customization. Sometimes purpose-built just saves a ton of headaches down the road.

Good luck with the project!

While I don't think Odoo will work "out-of-the-box" for your specific use-case, I do think the required structure is available to provide most of the tools required.

We're currently working on a similar use-case to yours for a client. With some development work I think it is very doable.
